Quick answer

The 3rd Grade Practice Bundle ($59.99) works as the literacy and math practice core of an Alabama homeschool third-grade year. It brings five literacy packs, two math practice packs, Grade 3 warm-ups, the Math Made Easy parent guide with workbook and the Numbers to 1000 unit. It does not cover science, social studies or physical education, and it is not approved for any Alabama homeschool option or by any church or private school.

The real problem

Alabama's three home education routes and what they ask of you

Alabama families who teach at home usually use one of three routes. With a church school, the parent and the church school administrator sign an enrollment certificate that goes to the local superintendent when the child first enrolls. There is no annual filing, the school keeps a daily attendance register, and subjects follow the church school's own policy. A home-based private school reports enrolled children to the county or city superintendent five days after public school begins, keeps an attendance register and must include a physical education program. The private tutor route needs an Alabama teaching certificate, a filed statement of students, subjects and schedule, and instruction in English for at least 3 hours a day and 140 days a year. No testing requirement is listed for any of the three. Third grade is also the year when reading moves toward longer texts and math moves to place value up to 1000, so what a parent needs is short, steady practice every day rather than another heavy textbook. Check the current rules with the state or a homeschool legal resource before you settle on a route.

Why it fits

How the bundle fits a third-grade day at home

Each piece maps to a short, repeatable block, which makes days easy to record if your route keeps an attendance register.

  • Grade 3 Math Warm-Up Worksheets give each school day a quick, predictable start.
  • Numbers to 1000 teaches place value, comparing and ordering, number lines and word problems as one unit.
  • Grade 3 Grammar Mastery practices nouns, pronouns, sentences and punctuation in short sessions.
  • Creative writing prompts and story starters give a third grader something new to write each week.
  • Math Made Easy is a parent guide with workbook, useful when math is not your strongest subject.
  • The reading story and vocabulary trainer make good independent work while you teach a younger sibling.

Getting started

A sample week for an Alabama third grader

One way to use the bundle. Adjust the days and session length to your route and your child's pace.

  1. Begin each day with a warm-upOpen with one page from the Grade 3 Math Warm-Up Worksheets. It is a calm way to start, and it gives you a clear beginning time to note if you keep an attendance register.
  2. One math lesson from Numbers to 1000Work through place value, comparing and ordering numbers, and number lines in order. Save the two math practice packs for days when your child needs more repetition before moving on.
  3. Alternate grammar and phonicsUse Grade 3 Grammar Mastery on two days and Grade 3 Phonics & Word Patterns on two others. At this age, short sessions usually go better than one long sitting.
  4. Write once or twice a weekPick a prompt from Grade 3 Creative Writing, let your child draft, then revise together the next day. Keep the drafts in a folder as a simple record of progress over the year.
  5. Read and review on the last dayRead Mia and the Moonlight Garden in parts across the term and answer the questions. Close the week with the vocabulary trainer and note what still needs practice.

What to buy

Which Grade 3 purchase makes sense for your family

Most families teaching third grade at home will get the most from the 3rd Grade Practice Bundle at $59.99, since its ten parts cost $95.90 bought separately. If you already have a math program and only need literacy, the Grade 3 ELA Pack ($13.99) holds the five literacy packs alone. If math is the gap, the Elementary Math Units Bundle ($69.99, parts $99.96) adds fractions, area and perimeter, and a test prep toolkit to Numbers to 1000, which means one overlapping unit. The Grades 3–5 Test Prep Bundle ($64.99) suits families who choose to test even though no test is listed.

Honest limits

Honest limits before you buy

This bundle is practice packs plus one math unit, not a complete third-grade curriculum. It has no science, social studies, Alabama history or physical education, and it was not written to the 2021 Alabama Course of Study: English Language Arts or the 2019 Alabama Course of Study: Mathematics. Compare it with those yourself if your cover school uses them. Printing is on you. The licence is for your own family's teaching; a co-op that wants to share files should message Teach Lessons first. Within 7 days of purchase, a bundle that does not suit your family can be swapped for store credit of the same value; there is no cash refund.

Good to know

Frequently asked questions

Is this enough for Alabama's homeschool rules?

No product can do that for you, and this one is not approved by the state or by any church or private school. The routes differ: a church school sets subjects by its own policy, a home-based private school must include physical education, and a private tutor teaches the same branches of study as public schools. Check current law with the state or a homeschool legal resource, and ask your cover school what it expects.

Is it a full third-grade curriculum?

No. It covers literacy practice and a math strand: five literacy packs, two math practice packs, Grade 3 warm-ups, the Math Made Easy guide and the Numbers to 1000 unit. You still need science, social studies and anything else your chosen route requires. Many families pair it with a separate history or science resource.

Do I need a teaching background to use it?

No. Math Made Easy is a parent guide written for supporting math at home, and the warm-ups and practice packs are ready to print. The Numbers to 1000 unit includes answer keys, so you can check work quickly, even when a grandparent or older sibling runs the lesson.

Can I pay with scholarship or education savings funds?

Teach Lessons does not claim to be an approved vendor for any education savings account or scholarship program. If your family uses one, read the program's rules and vendor list before buying, and keep your order email in case the program asks for a record of the purchase.

What if my child is behind or ahead of Grade 3?

The bundle is pitched at Grade 3 throughout. For a child who needs to revisit second-grade skills, the 2nd Grade Practice Bundle ($34.99) has the same kind of literacy and math practice one level down. For a child working ahead, the 4th Grade Practice Bundle ($69.99) adds fractions and area and perimeter units.

When can we start?

Right after checkout. The link comes by email and is also saved in your customer account under Orders. Print the worksheets at home, or keep some pages on a tablet if your child works digitally. Nothing is shipped, so you can start the very same day.
