The real problem

Teaching algebra far from your materials

Teachers at international schools often arrive with a suitcase and a contract, not a classroom library. The school may follow an American-style sequence, a mixed model, or something the previous teacher invented. Printed textbooks take weeks to arrive and can get stuck in customs. Local resources are in another language or follow a different national system. The students make it harder still. A single class might include children who learned algebra in three different countries, with different notation for the same ideas. Some learned to solve equations by moving terms across, others by doing the same operation on both sides. Some are new to English and struggle with word problems more than with the math itself. Staff turnover is high too. Teachers rotate every two or three years, and the algebra sequence often changes with them. A school that wants continuity needs materials that stay when the teacher goes, and that a new arrival can pick up in a week.

Why it fits

Why the bundle works abroad

A digital set of algebra workbooks in English avoids shipping problems and gives a consistent thread across grades.

  • Instant download means materials are ready the day you buy, wherever the school is located.
  • Ten workbooks run from early expressions to function transformations, covering a mixed-background class's range.
  • The linear functions workbook includes a glossary, which helps students still building English math vocabulary.
  • Warm-up sets give short daily practice that works well for students who need repetition in English.
  • Files in your account survive a move; you can download them again at your next post.
  • Bought as one bundle, the 10 workbooks cost $69.91 less than the separately priced parts.

Getting started

Your first two weeks at a new post

Suggested steps for a teacher starting at an international school. The product has no built-in schedule.

  1. Find out the school's sequenceAsk what algebra each grade is expected to cover. Then decide which workbooks match each class you teach and which grades they best suit. Ask a long-serving colleague if no document exists.
  2. Check students' backgroundsGive a short warm-up page early and watch how students solve. You will see quickly which methods and notations they bring from previous schools. Ask where each learned algebra.
  3. Agree on one method in classUse the workbooks to set one shared way of writing and solving equations. Mention the alternatives students know, but practice one consistently. Post a worked example on the wall.
  4. Pre-teach key vocabularyBefore word problems, go through the terms students will meet. The glossary in the linear functions workbook is a good model for other units. A word wall helps too.
  5. Save files for the next teacherStore the workbooks in a school folder with notes on what you taught. When you move on, your successor starts from your work, not from nothing.

What to buy

Which bundle to buy for your school

If you teach algebra across several grade levels, the Complete Algebra Bundle at $129.99 gives you all ten workbooks for less than the parts at $199.90. If you teach mainly Grades 5–9 and want only daily practice, the Algebra Warm-Ups & Bell Ringers Bundle ($29.99) is a light place to start. Upper-grade teachers who also need statistics can add the High School Data & Statistics Bundle ($39.99), with hypothesis testing, matrices and a data analysis escape room. Prices are in USD.

Honest limits

What international schools should check

These are algebra workbooks only, not a complete course or a full math program for any grade. No claim is made that they meet accreditation, an American or other national standard, IB or any examination board's requirements; check against your school's own framework. Use by several teachers at your school needs a short message to Teach Lessons first. Purchase orders and invoices are not promised, so ask before buying if your school needs them. Within 7 days you can exchange the bundle for store credit of equal value, not cash.

Good to know

Frequently asked questions

Does the bundle meet accreditation, IB or US state standards?

No. No alignment, accreditation or endorsement claim is made for any standard, examination board or accrediting body. The workbooks are written for grade bands from 5 to 12. Check them against your school's own framework and any accreditation expectations. Your school's curriculum coordinator is usually the right person to ask.

Can I buy from outside the United States?

The store sells digital downloads priced in USD. After purchase you get a download link by email, and the files appear in your customer account under Orders, so location does not matter for delivery. Prices are shown in US dollars, so your card statement may show a converted amount in your local currency.

Are the workbooks suitable for English language learners?

They are in English. The linear functions workbook includes a glossary and reading text, which can support students building math vocabulary. Look at the previews to judge whether the reading level suits your class. Pairing new English speakers with a classmate who shares their first language can help during word problems.

Can the whole math department use it?

The licence covers your own teaching. For use by colleagues, send Teach Lessons a short message first and describe your school. International schools often have teachers joining and leaving every year, so mention how you plan to keep the files for future staff. That way the answer covers the situation you actually have.

Is it a full algebra course?

No. It is 10 workbooks covering the algebra strand from Grade 5 to Grade 12. It does not make up a complete year for any grade. Use it alongside whatever framework your school follows, and fill the remaining topics for each grade from other sources as needed.

What if it does not suit our school?

Within 7 days you can exchange it for store credit of equal value. It is not a cash refund. Look at the previews on the product page before buying, and compare them with the sequence your school expects. Credit can go toward a smaller bundle, such as the Algebra Warm-Ups & Bell Ringers Bundle, if that suits your classes better.
