A Grade 11 Workbook on Functions, Derivatives and Graph Analysis

If you need a Grade 11 workbook on functions, derivatives and graph analysis, it comes in the Pre-Calculus Prep Bundle together with two workbooks that build the ground under it: quadratic equations, and higher-level functions with graph transformations. You download all three right after checkout and can start with the Grade 11 material the same week, or work up to it from the quadratics.

Quick answer

The Grade 11 workbook on functions, derivatives and graph analysis is one of three workbooks in the Pre-Calculus Prep Bundle ($44.99). The other two cover quadratic equations and higher-level functions with graph transformations. Bought separately the three parts total $59.97, so the bundle saves $14.98. It is a digital download for Grades 9–12. It is a set of workbooks for these topics, not a full-year course, so plan the rest of your year around it.

The real problem

Why derivatives in Grade 11 trip students up

Most Grade 11 students meet derivatives before they have a settled sense of what a function is doing. They can plug numbers into a formula, but ask them where a graph is rising, where it turns, and how steep it is at a given point, and the answers get vague. The derivative asks for exactly that reading: slope as a rate of change, at a point rather than between two points. Students who still read graphs as pictures instead of as relationships between x and y struggle twice, once with the new idea and once with the old gaps. The gaps are usually predictable. Quadratics are shaky, so finding where a parabola turns becomes guesswork rather than something students can check. Transformations are half-remembered, so a shifted or stretched graph looks like a new function instead of a familiar one moved. Then the derivative lands on top of both. For the teacher, the practical problem is time. You want material that keeps the Grade 11 focus on functions, derivatives and graph analysis, while having somewhere to send students whose quadratics or transformations are not ready. Writing both levels yourself every week is where evenings go.

Why it fits

How the bundle fits a Grade 11 functions unit

The Grade 11 workbook does the main work; the other two workbooks sit behind it for review and catch-up.

  • The Grade 11 workbook keeps functions, derivatives and graph analysis together, so slope and graph reading stay linked.
  • The quadratic equations workbook gives you review material for students who cannot yet find turning points reliably.
  • The transformations workbook covers shifted and stretched graphs, which students need before they analyze unfamiliar curves.
  • All three are written for Grades 9–12, so review work never feels like a step back to middle school.
  • Each workbook is also sold on its own, but the three together cost $14.98 less than buying the parts.
  • Instant download means you can read the Grade 11 workbook tonight and decide where it sits in your unit.

Getting started

Your first two weeks with the Grade 11 workbook

A suggested way to start; adjust it to your own pacing and to what your students already know.

  1. Read the Grade 11 workbook firstBefore you teach, go through the functions, derivatives and graph analysis workbook and mark the sections that match your unit. Note where it assumes quadratics or transformations so you know which review to schedule.
  2. Run a short graph-reading checkGive students two or three graphs and ask where each rises, falls and turns. Their answers tell you who needs the quadratics or transformations workbook before derivatives.
  3. Assign targeted reviewSend students who struggled to the matching pages in the quadratics or transformations workbook for a few days while the rest start on functions in the Grade 11 workbook.
  4. Introduce slope as rate of changeStart the derivative section with the whole class together. Keep connecting each new idea back to reading the graph, since that is where the review work pays off.
  5. Close with graph analysisEnd the first two weeks with graph analysis tasks from the Grade 11 workbook. Use what students produce to decide how fast to move into the next part of your unit.

What to buy

The bundle or the single workbook

If all you want is the Grade 11 functions and derivatives material and your students already handle quadratics and transformations well, the single workbook may be enough, since every part is sold on its own. Most classes have a spread, though, and the Pre-Calculus Prep Bundle at $44.99 gives you the review workbooks for $14.98 less than buying the three separately. If some students are still weak on the basics of expressions and equations, the Algebra Warm-Ups & Bell Ringers Bundle ($29.99) adds short daily practice. Note that the TEACHMORE15 code does not apply to math bundles.

Honest limits

What this bundle does not cover

This is three workbooks, not a full Grade 11 course. Trigonometry, sequences and other topics your course may include are not part of it, so you will still plan those yourself. Check the workbooks against your own district or course requirements; no alignment to any standard is claimed. The licence covers your own teaching; if colleagues in your department want to use it too, send Teach Lessons a short message first. If it turns out not to fit, you can exchange it within 7 days for store credit of equal value. That is store credit, not a cash refund.

Good to know

Frequently asked questions

Is the Grade 11 workbook aligned to state standards or Common Core?

No alignment or endorsement is claimed. The workbook is written for Grade 11 and the bundle for the Grades 9–12 band, covering functions, derivatives and graph analysis. Look at the topics against your state framework, district pacing guide or course outline and decide where it fits. That check is yours to do, and it is quick once you have the files open.

Can I buy only the Grade 11 workbook?

Yes. Every workbook in the bundle is also sold on its own. The bundle makes sense once you want at least some of the quadratics or transformations material as well, because the three parts bought separately come to $59.97, while the bundle costs $44.99. Look at the previews of all three before deciding.

Do students need to know calculus before using it?

No. The workbook is meant for students meeting derivatives in Grade 11. What helps is solid work with functions and graphs, which is why the quadratics and transformations workbooks are included. Use them first with students whose graph reading is still uncertain. Nothing in the bundle description assumes earlier calculus coursework.

Is this enough for my whole Grade 11 year?

No, and it is not sold that way. It covers quadratic equations, higher-level functions and transformations, and the Grade 11 functions, derivatives and graph analysis workbook. Treat it as material for one stretch of your year and plan the other topics in your course separately.

How do I get the files?

Right after purchase you get a download link by email, and the files also sit in your customer account under Orders. You can download them again from there later, which helps if you switch computers between school and home. Nothing ships, so there is no waiting for a package, and you can print only the pages you need for the week.

What if the level is wrong for my class?

Within 7 days you can exchange the bundle for store credit of equal value and choose something else, for example the Algebra 1 Pathway Bundle if your students need more work on linear functions first. Exchanges are store credit only, not cash refunds. Check the previews on the product page first to reduce that risk.
