Massachusetts High School Career Readiness Units: Money, Jobs, AI at Work

For a Massachusetts high school teacher who runs an advisory, a work-based learning seminar or a career readiness block, the Career Readiness Curriculum Bundle gives you eight ready units: money and debt, applications and interviews, professional email, presenting, customer conversations, time management, teamwork, and AI at work. It is a starter set of units, not a complete Chapter 74 program.

The real problem

Career readiness in Massachusetts while the rules are being redrawn

Massachusetts high schools already run several kinds of career preparation: Career Technical Education programs under Chapter 74, plus state pathway programs such as Innovation Career Pathways and Early College Programs. On June 17, 2026 the state released final recommendations for a modernized graduation framework. They include MassCore coursework, a financial literacy module, an AI and digital literacy module and work-based learning. As of the 2026–27 school year these are recommendations, not adopted requirements, and districts are encouraged to meet MassCore starting with the ninth graders who enter in fall 2027. Personal finance is not currently a statewide graduation requirement, though the History and Social Science Framework includes Personal Financial Literacy standards that schools may teach on their own or within other courses. For a teacher, that means planning under uncertainty. You may be asked to pilot money lessons, a module on AI, or a seminar that supports internships, often with little notice and no textbook. The skills students need do not change with the policy: writing a cover letter, handling a difficult customer, managing time, working in a team. Ready units on those skills let you start now and adjust once your district decides how the recommendations play out locally.

Why it fits

Where the units fit Massachusetts settings

None of these units is tied to a specific program, which makes them easy to slot into whatever structure your school uses.

  • Financial Literacy – Handling Money and Debt Prevention gives you ready money lessons while policy is settled.
  • Digitalisation and AI in the World of Work fits a pilot of AI and digital literacy topics.
  • Application Training covers cover letters, résumés and interviews before students apply for placements.
  • Customer conversations and conflict units prepare students for work-based learning sites and part-time jobs.
  • Time Management and Study Methods suits Early College students juggling college courses and high school.
  • Presenting and team management units give Chapter 74 shop teachers ready soft-skills lessons.

Getting started

A semester outline you can adapt

This is a suggested order for one semester of weekly career readiness time. Move units to match internships or exam weeks.

  1. Open with time and moneyStart with Time Management and Study Methods, then Financial Literacy. Students see right away that the course is about their own week and their own paycheck.
  2. Build the application packetUse Application Training and Business Letter and Professional Email together. By the end, each student has a draft cover letter, a résumé and a professional email to a real contact.
  3. Practice talking at workRun Presenting and giving talks in training next to Job-related communication. Short presentations and customer role-plays work well in the weeks before students head out to placements.
  4. Handle teams and conflictThe Conflict and Team Management unit fits mid-semester, when group projects or work-based learning teams start to show friction and students have real cases to discuss.
  5. Finish with AI and the future of workClose with Digitalisation and AI in the World of Work. It gives students a way to think about which tasks are changing in the fields they are considering.

What to buy

Picking the right set for your course

For a broad career readiness block, buy the Career Readiness Curriculum Bundle at $99.99; the eight units cost $199.92 separately. If your school is focusing on money first, the Personal Finance Starter Bundle ($59.99 instead of $78.94) adds a course launch lesson, SMART financial goals, a money mindset quiz and percentages and interest. Business and finance CTE teachers may want the Accounting & Economics Fundamentals Bundle at $109.99 ($224.91 separately). Digitalisation and AI in the World of Work is also sold alone for $24.99, though it is already inside the career bundle.

Honest limits

Honest limits for Massachusetts teachers

These units are not written for Massachusetts, carry no framework codes and are not built around Chapter 74 program standards or the June 2026 recommendations. They do not replace a Chapter 74 program, an internship structure or district-approved course materials, so check them against your district's requirements. Eight units make a starter set for a seminar or advisory, not a full-year course. You supply local job examples and employer contacts. For a team of teachers, send Teach Lessons a short message before sharing. If it is not a fit, you can exchange it within 7 days for store credit of equal value; cash refunds are not offered.

Good to know

Frequently asked questions

Does this meet a Massachusetts graduation or CTE requirement?

No. The bundle is not aligned with, approved for or endorsed under any Massachusetts framework, Chapter 74 program or graduation rule. As of 2026 the new graduation framework, including the financial literacy and AI and digital literacy modules, exists as recommendations. Check with your district what will be required and compare the units yourself.

Can I use it for the recommended financial literacy module?

The bundle contains one financial literacy unit on handling money and avoiding debt. Whether that supports a future module depends on what your district adopts. If money is your main focus, the Personal Finance Starter Bundle adds six lessons, and you would still compare both with the Personal Financial Literacy standards.

Is this enough for a full semester course?

Eight units give you a solid base for a semester seminar or a year of weekly advisory lessons, depending on how much time you spend on projects and practice. It is not described as a complete course, so plan to add your own local material, guest speakers or placement reflections.

Will it work in a Chapter 74 shop setting?

The units focus on general workplace skills, not technical skills for a specific trade. If you need ready lessons on communication, teamwork and applications alongside technical instruction, these units can fill that space. Check them against your program's requirements before you build them into the schedule.

Does the AI unit need student accounts or software?

No software or accounts are included. Digitalisation and AI in the World of Work is a teaching unit with worksheets, activities and slides about how work is changing. If you want students to try AI tools, use whatever your school already permits and plan that part yourself.

How quickly can I use it?

Right away. The bundle is a digital download, sent by email after purchase and kept in your customer account under Orders. Every part is also listed on the bundle page, so you can see each unit before you decide where it goes in your calendar.
