The real problem
Review time in a Dallas ISD year
Dallas ISD began 2026-27 on Tuesday, August 11, 2026. Not every campus runs on that schedule. Selected campuses on Texas's Additional Days School Year (ADSY) calendar started as early as July 28, 2026 and added Saturday sessions to curb summer learning loss, while most campuses follow the regular calendar. That creates two different review problems. On a regular-calendar campus, a third grade teacher has a fixed number of weeks before spring testing and every review day pushes back the next unit. On an ADSY campus there is more time, but Saturday sessions need material that stands on its own and that a different adult can pick up. In both cases third grade needs the most care, since younger students need practice with the format of a test as much as with the content. Review that starts in the last few weeks tends to crowd out instruction. Review that runs a few minutes a day from winter onward does not. Check your campus assessment calendar for the testing window, since this page does not cover test dates.
Why it fits
Where each part fits on a Dallas campus
The bundle mixes quick daily routines with deeper toolkits. Here is how they fit both calendar types.
- Grade 3 math warm-ups start each math block without taking time from the main lesson.
- Daily ELA Practice task cards slot into morning work or literacy stations on any campus.
- Progress monitoring in the math toolkit shows which third graders need small-group time first.
- Self-contained task cards and warm-ups suit ADSY Saturday sessions led by another adult.
- The ELA toolkit gives focused practice for the last weeks, without building review from scratch.
- Grade 4 warm-ups let a grade-level team share one approach across third and fourth grade.
Getting started
A suggested spring review sequence
Adjust the timing to your campus calendar. ADSY campuses can stretch each phase over more weeks.
- Begin warm-ups in JanuaryOpen each math block with a five-to-ten-minute warm-up. By spring, daily fluency practice has added up without a separate review week. Ask a student or two to explain their answers aloud.
- Run task cards as morning workSet Daily ELA Practice cards out each morning. Students work through reading and language skills while your ELA unit carries on as planned. Review one card together before students start.
- Check progress mid-semesterUse the math toolkit's progress monitoring to group students. Students who need more help get small-group time early, not in the final week. Recheck after spring break.
- Use Saturdays for targeted practiceOn ADSY campuses, use Saturday sessions for toolkit practice with groups that showed gaps. Leave clear pages so any staff member can run them. Note which pages each group finished.
- Return to routines before testingIn the last few days, cut back to the familiar warm-ups and task cards. Third graders tend to be calmer with routines they already know.
What to buy
Choosing the right review resource
Most Dallas Grades 3–5 teachers should start with the Grades 3–5 Test Prep Bundle at $64.99; the parts cost $104.95 bought separately. A third grade teacher who wants year-round practice can choose the 3rd Grade Practice Bundle ($59.99), with grammar, writing, phonics, reading, math practice and the Numbers to 1000 unit. For fourth grade, the 4th Grade Practice Bundle ($69.99) adds full units on fractions and on area and perimeter. If math is your main gap, the Elementary Math Units Bundle ($69.99, parts $99.96) includes the math toolkit plus three math units.
Honest limits
What this bundle is not
It is written for any state and contains no Texas content. It is not aligned with the TEKS and does not copy any state test, so check it against the TEKS for your grade and your campus guidance. The warm-ups cover Grades 3 and 4 only, so fifth grade teachers rely on the toolkits for math. You print everything yourself. The licence covers your own teaching; a team or campus should send Teach Lessons a short message first. Within 7 days you can exchange the bundle for store credit of equal value if it does not work for you.
Good to know
Frequently asked questions
Is this TEKS-aligned or approved by Dallas ISD?
No. The bundle is not aligned with the Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills and is not endorsed or approved by Texas or Dallas ISD. It is general review material for Grades 3–5. Check the skills it practices against the TEKS for your grade before using it for test review.
Does it include practice tests in the state format?
It includes ELA and math test prep toolkits with practice, and the math toolkit has progress monitoring. It does not reproduce any official Texas test. Use your campus's released or district materials for format practice. The toolkits work best for skill practice and spotting gaps in the weeks before testing.
Can I use it on Saturday sessions at an ADSY campus?
Yes. Task cards and warm-ups work well for sessions led by a different staff member, since each piece stands on its own. Leave the pages and a short note on which students to group. Keep a simple record of which groups did which pages so the Monday teacher can follow up.
Is it worth it for a fifth grade classroom?
It is a partial fit. Fifth grade teachers get the ELA and math toolkits and the daily ELA cards, but not grade-level math warm-ups, which cover Grades 3 and 4 only. If your fifth graders need daily math review, plan your own short opener next to the toolkit work.
Can our grade-level team share it?
The licence covers your own teaching. Team or campus use is possible after a short message to Teach Lessons, so ask before you copy pages for colleagues. Mention how many classrooms and which grades would use it when you write, so the answer covers your whole team.
How fast can I start?
The download link arrives by email immediately after purchase and stays in your account under Orders. You can print tomorrow's warm-up tonight. Print the first two weeks of task cards at the same time, so your morning routine is in place before students walk in on Monday.
