Online safety usually lands on whoever teaches the computer lab, often with a week's notice and a directive from the district after an incident. Generic assembly slides do not survive contact with a room of thirteen-year-olds who already know more than the slides do. Differentiation and checking understanding
The four task levels let a class with wildly uneven prior knowledge work on the same scenario, with the top tier asking students to justify a security decision rather than recall a definition. Scenario answers make good evidence of understanding, since spotting a spoofed sender address is harder to fake than a matching exercise.

Do these line up with the CSTA standards?
They are written to the concepts the networks, internet and cybersecurity strands cover, so they map onto most middle and high school CS scope and sequence documents. We are not affiliated with CSTA and nothing here is endorsed by them. Check your own standards list before you record coverage.
Do students need accounts or software?
No. Everything runs from the PowerPoint and the printable tasks, so the lessons work in a lab with locked-down machines, on a cart of Chromebooks, or on paper when the network goes down. There is nothing for students to install and no login for anyone but you.
Is this suitable for a one-week digital citizenship push?
Yes. Teachers running Safer Internet Day or a district-mandated awareness week usually pull the passwords lesson, the phishing scenarios and the digital footprint discussion, which fills three or four periods. The editable slides let you drop your own acceptable use policy in as the closing slide.
