Seller FAQ
Short, direct answers to the questions teacher-authors ask before they send us their resources. If yours isn't here, email us and we'll answer it.
Fees and what you keep
Is there a fee to join or to list? No. There is no membership fee, no annual fee, no sign-up fee and no per-resource transaction fee. Listing a resource costs you nothing.
So what comes off a sale? Only the payment processing cost, which is always 3% of the transaction. What is left is net revenue, and you keep 70% of it. That works out to 67.9% of the sale price.
What does that look like in dollars? On a $5 sale the payment cost is 15 cents, net revenue is $4.85, and your 70% is $3.395, shown as $3.40. On a $10 sale you keep $6.79. On a $50 sale you keep $33.95. The payout calculator lets you check any price.
Is the payout based on the full list price? It is based on what the customer actually paid for the resource, after any discount and without sales tax or VAT.
Exclusivity
Do I have to sell only with TeachLessons? No. We take a non-exclusive license. You can keep selling the same resources in your own shop and on other marketplaces. Our page on adding a second sales channel explains how that works in practice.
I signed an exclusivity agreement somewhere. Can I still list with you? Not for the resources that agreement covers. If you have agreed to sell certain resources only on one platform or only through one publisher, please honor that. We won't list those resources, and we would never ask you to break an agreement.
How do I know which resources an agreement covers? Read the agreement itself. The other party defines its scope, not us. Our article on what to check in an exclusivity clause lists useful questions, such as which products it names, from what date and for how long.
Can I submit resources that fall outside it? Yes, if they are truly free to be sold elsewhere. When in doubt, leave a resource out until you are sure.
Payouts and statements
How often am I paid? Monthly. Each payout covers the previous calendar month's sales.
Will I see what I'm being paid for? Yes. Every payout comes with a statement that lists each sale.
What about refunds? A refunded order is reversed, so there is no payout on that sale. It is listed on your statement.
Where can I read the full payout rules? The key terms page summarizes them in plain language, and you receive the full seller agreement before anything is listed. The agreement governs the details.
Files and formats
What should I send? Send the files exactly as a buyer would receive them, plus any preview images or thumbnails you already use. The submission form asks for the resources and your author details.
Do I need to make anything new? No. If something is missing or unclear, our team tells you by email during the review.
What about clip art and fonts? You confirm that you have the rights to everything in your resource, including clip art, fonts and images. Some third-party licenses limit which marketplaces a product can be sold on, so check them before you submit. Our article on preparing resource files for submission walks through it.
Will every resource be accepted? Not necessarily. We review for quality, originality and rights, and we may decline a resource.
SEO and visibility
What do you do to help teachers find my resources? For every accepted resource we write or improve the product title, description, FAQ and structured data at no cost. We feature seller resources on landing pages, in relevant Teacher Hub blog articles and in a seller spotlight, and each seller gets an author profile. The free SEO page has the full list.
Can you guarantee sales or rankings? No. We can't promise search positions or a number of sales, and the program doesn't promise paid ads.
Do I get a say in the rewritten copy? Yes. You approve it before it goes live.
UK and Australian sellers
Is TeachLessons only for American resources? No. TeachLessons sells English-language teaching resources to teachers in the US, the UK and Australia. Resources written for UK or Australian classrooms are welcome, and the same 70/30 split and monthly payouts apply.
Should I change my spelling? Keep the spelling your audience expects. A resource for UK classrooms should use UK spelling. Tell us which curriculum or year levels it was written for, so we can describe it accurately in the listing.
How is VAT handled? VAT and sales tax are not part of the price used for your payout. Your own tax position depends on where you live, so check with an accountant. Nothing here is tax advice, though our article on record-keeping across several platforms has general pointers.

Frequently asked questions
What does it cost to join the seller program?
Nothing. There are no membership, annual, sign-up or per-resource fees. Only the 3% payment cost comes off each sale before the 70/30 split.
How much do I keep on a $10 sale?
$6.79. The 3% payment cost is 30 cents, net revenue is $9.70, and 70% of that is $6.79.
Can I keep selling in my own shop and on other marketplaces?
Yes, as long as no exclusivity agreement you have signed covers the resource. Our license is non-exclusive.
When are payouts made?
Monthly, for the previous calendar month's sales, with a statement listing each sale.
Do I keep my copyright?
Yes. You grant TeachLessons a non-exclusive license to list and sell the resource, and you can remove it at any time.
How do I apply?
Fill in the submission form with your resources and author details. Our team reviews them and replies by email.
