What Senior Secondary Actually Needs
S4 to S6 runs on four core subjects — Chinese Language, English Language, Mathematics and Citizenship and Social Development — plus electives students pick from S4 onward. Nothing here is written against the Citizenship and Social Development curriculum, since that subject needs its own vetted material and this catalogue does not have any. Where it goes wrong
Three Misconceptions About Senior Secondary Material
The first misconception is assuming a general physics or math unit will map onto the HKDSE assessment structure automatically. It will not, and it is not meant to — these units teach the subject content, and the exam technique, paper structure and marking scheme still need to come from your own HKDSE-specific preparation, not from a generic worksheet. A student who can derive a function's turning points still needs practice with how that skill is actually phrased and marked in a DSE-style paper, and that practice has to come from past-paper-style material you source separately.
The second misconception is treating an elective unit as a replacement for the core subjects. Chinese Language, English Language, Mathematics and Citizenship and Social Development are compulsory and assessed differently from electives; nothing on this page substitutes for core-subject teaching material, and a panel that tries to stretch an elective unit to cover core content usually ends up with gaps in both.
The third misconception is buying the physics bundle before confirming your elective actually covers all four topics. Some S4–S6 physics electives skip relativity or quantum mechanics depending on the school's chosen syllabus depth, so check your own scheme before assuming you need all four units.
