The Learning Edit makes printable worksheets and classroom activities for grades K-8. Its first two resources on TeachLessons are a reading comprehension mystery for grades 3-4 and a fractions practice set for grades 5-6.

The Learning Edit is the first outside teacher-author to sell on TeachLessons. The shop joined in October 2026 under the slogan Quality resources for curious minds.
The focus is grades K-8 and the everyday material a classroom runs on: math, reading, writing, homework help, brain breaks and small activities. Each resource is thoughtfully designed and meant to be easy to use: you print a sheet and teach with it the same day. Accessibility for diverse learners is part of the plan, which shows in how the questions are built. They start with supported tasks, such as a word bank, and move toward work students do on their own.
Welcome to The Learning Edit! I create thoughtfully designed educational worksheets, printables, and classroom activities for students in grades K-8. My goal is to provide engaging, accessible, and easy-to-use resources that support diverse learners and help teachers make learning meaningful. I'm excited to grow this collection with practical resources for a variety of subjects, grade levels, and classroom needs.
The Learning EditTwo worksheets are available today, one for reading and one for math. Both cost $4.00 and download as a PDF right after checkout.
The Mystery of the Missing Birdhouse is an 8-page reading comprehension packet built around an original story of about 400 words. Adding and Subtracting Fractions is a 4-page practice set for grades 5-6 with fraction operations, a short data table and a page where students write their own word problems.
Both files are A4 PDFs. On US Letter paper, choose fit-to-page in your print settings and the pages scale cleanly.
The reading packet has two key pages with sample written answers and a 16-point scoring guide. The fractions set ends with a full answer page.
You get the file as soon as you check out, so you can buy it during your planning period and print it for the next class.
No slides or logins to set up: print the pages you need and use the key to check the work.
Plan for about 45-60 minutes. Students read the story about Emma and her Grandpa, then work through a word bank task, eight multiple choice questions and four written responses that ask for details from the text. It works as a whole-class lesson, in a small reading group, as homework, as a reading check or in a sub plan, since the answer key lets another adult mark it. The questions practice main idea, supporting details, vocabulary in context, inference, cause and effect and text evidence, and they match CCSS RL.3.1, RL.3.2, RL.4.1 and RL.4.2. For teaching ideas, see teaching reading comprehension with a mystery story and main idea and text evidence in grades 3-4.
This is a short set of nine tasks that takes about 20-30 minutes. Use it as a warm-up, a review before a test, homework, a sub plan or a quick check before you start a fractions unit. Grade 6 teachers can use it as a review of grade 5 work. Students add and subtract fractions with unlike denominators, read a table of pizza eaten by four friends and finish by writing three word problems of their own. It matches CCSS 5.NF.A.1 and 5.NF.A.2. Teaching notes are on adding and subtracting fractions with unlike denominators and fraction word problems students write themselves.
