Why teachers use these

Why Scottish secondary teachers use these

A Senior Phase timetable rarely leaves you with one course to prepare. Most departments run a National 5 class, a Higher class and a Broad General Education block in the same week, with prelims, tracking and monitoring returns and reassessment paperwork stacked on top. Complete units mean the graded practice, the worked solutions and the slides already exist, so the hours you have go into the reasoning and the feedback that actually move a candidate up a band.

What's covered

What comes in each download

Each unit is built to cover a block of teaching rather than one period.

  • Four tiers of graded practice
  • Editable slide deck for the board
  • Worked solutions, not bare answers
  • Timed lesson plan per period
  • Print and on-screen versions

Make it work for everyone

Differentiation and gathering evidence

Running four tiers inside one class lets you keep a borderline candidate on the same context as everyone else while cutting the number of steps. The extension tier is where you look for the reasoning and communication that separates a comfortable pass from a top band, and the finished work files straight into your evidence folder before tracking meetings.

Good to know

Frequently asked questions

Are these SQA-approved materials?

No. They are not produced, endorsed or approved by the SQA and we claim no connection to the awarding body. The resources are written to the concepts and skills National 5 and Higher courses cover, so they line up with content in the course specification. For assessment detail always work from the specification itself.

Do they work in the Broad General Education too?

Yes. The lower two tiers of most units sit comfortably at Third and Fourth Level, which is useful when an S3 class is choosing courses and you want them meeting National 5 style questions early. The same file then serves the S4 group, so you prepare the topic once.

Can I use them for prelim revision?

That is where most departments start. Set the middle tier as homework a fortnight before the prelim, use the worked solutions to run a marking clinic, then give the extension tier to pupils aiming at an A. Everything is editable, so cut any question your course has not yet reached.

How does the licence work for a department?

A purchase is licensed for the buyer's own classroom, so you can print, reprint and reuse it with your classes every session. If three colleagues want the file on the departmental drive, buy three copies. There is no subscription and no renewal date on what you have already bought.
