Digitalisation and AI in the World of Work
The real problem
Career readiness in Wyoming: what is set and what is not
Career and technical education in Wyoming sits under the Wyoming Content and Performance Standards, and the state's current document for it is the 2014 Career & Vocational Education Standards. Computer science has its own 2020 and 2023 standards. Beyond that, a lot is decided locally. The state's content areas page lists no personal financial literacy standards, so ask your district whether money skills belong in your course and whether any finance course is required to graduate. That leaves the teacher with a wide brief and few materials. A career readiness or advisory class might hold freshmen who have never written an email to an adult and seniors who start a job in June. They need concrete practice: a cover letter that reads well, an interview answer that does not ramble, a way to handle an upset customer, a plan for a week that includes school, a shift and sports. You also want something current. Students will enter workplaces where AI tools already change daily tasks, and a career unit written ten years ago does not mention them.
Why it fits
What each unit adds to a Wyoming career course
The eight units cover the skills an employer notices first, and each one stands on its own.
- Application Training walks students through a cover letter, a CV and a mock interview.
- Business Letter and Professional Email Communication fixes the habits that cost students their first impression.
- Customer conversations and conflicts prepares students for retail, food service and seasonal jobs.
- Time Management and Study Methods helps students balance school with a part-time job or training.
- Financial Literacy – Handling Money and Debt Prevention covers first paychecks and avoiding early debt.
- Digitalisation and AI in the World of Work shows how AI is changing the jobs students will apply for.
Getting started
A semester built from eight units
A suggested order for one semester. In an advisory period, spread the same units over the year.
- Start with time and teamworkOpen with Time Management and Study Methods, then Conflict and Team Management. Students set up habits and group norms they will need for every later project in the course.
- Communication that works at workTeach the professional email unit and the customer conversations unit back to back. Role-play phone calls and complaints so students hear themselves before an employer does.
- Presenting in front of othersUse the presenting unit next. A short talk about a job or career students are curious about gives them a real topic and builds toward the interview.
- Applications and mock interviewsRun Application Training. Each student finishes with a cover letter, a CV and one practice interview. Invite a local employer to sit in if your school allows it.
- Money and the future of workClose with the money and debt unit and Digitalisation and AI in the World of Work. Students leave with a first budget idea and a clearer view of the jobs ahead.
What to buy
Which bundle fits your Wyoming course
Buy the Career Readiness Curriculum Bundle at $99.99 if you teach a career readiness, CTE or advisory course; bought separately, the eight units cost $199.92. If your district adds a money strand, the Personal Finance Starter Bundle ($59.99, parts $78.94) gives you six lessons to open it, including the same debt prevention unit. For a business or finance pathway, the Accounting & Economics Fundamentals Bundle is $109.99 (parts $224.91). Only need the AI unit? Digitalisation and AI in the World of Work is sold alone for $24.99.
Honest limits
Before you count on it
This bundle is general career readiness material, not a Wyoming product. It has no codes from the 2014 Career & Vocational Education Standards, no Wyoming employers or programs, and no approval from any district or the state. Check it against your course description and any program of study your school runs. Students need their own devices only if you choose digital work; none are included. Sharing across a CTE department needs a short message to Teach Lessons first. Within 7 days you can exchange it for store credit of equal value; cash refunds are not offered.
Good to know
Frequently asked questions
Is this aligned to Wyoming's Career & Vocational Education Standards?
No. It is not aligned to, endorsed by or approved under the 2014 Career & Vocational Education Standards or any other Wyoming standard. The units teach common workplace skills, so compare them with your course description and your district's CTE expectations before you plan with them.
Does Wyoming require personal finance for graduation?
Confirm that with your district or the Wyoming Department of Education, since graduation rules are set and updated there. The state's content areas page lists no personal financial literacy standards, which tells you nothing either way about a course requirement. This bundle includes one money and debt unit, and the Personal Finance Starter Bundle adds more.
Can I use it in advisory rather than a full course?
Yes. Each unit stands alone, so you can teach one unit per month or per quarter in an advisory period. Time management fits early in the year, teamwork fits once groups form, and applications and interviews fit in spring, before students start looking for summer jobs.
Does the AI unit require computers?
No software or accounts are included or required. Digitalisation and AI in the World of Work is a teaching unit about how AI changes jobs and tasks. If you want students to try a tool themselves, use whatever devices and platforms your school already approves for classroom use.
Some units use the words CV and training place. Will that confuse students?
Some titles use international wording, such as CV for résumé or apprentices for new employees. Mention the US terms when you introduce each unit; the skills underneath are the same. It takes a minute and opens a short talk about how job language differs by country.
Can every teacher in our CTE department use one copy?
The licence is for your own teaching. For a department or a whole school, send Teach Lessons a short message before purchase and describe how many teachers would use it. Please do not post the files publicly or share them beyond what you agree with Teach Lessons.
