Quick answer

The Middle School Physical Science Units Bundle ($89.99) covers the physics part of Grades 6–9 physical science with six units: Describing Motion & Interpreting Graphs, Forces & Interactions, Work, Energy & Power, Pressure, Buoyancy & Fluids, Electric Circuits, and Light, Refraction & Lenses. Delaware teachers should check it against their district course; it is not aligned to any state standards and includes no chemistry.

The real problem

Teaching the physics strand in Delaware

Middle school physical science packs two sciences into one course. The physics half alone runs from motion graphs to circuits and optics, and each topic needs a different kind of lesson: graph reading for motion, hands-on tests for buoyancy, careful diagrams for light. A teacher who trained in biology or earth science often finds these units the hardest to prepare. Delaware public districts and charter schools follow the Delaware content standards for most subjects. For science, we could not confirm the official name or year of the standards the state uses; the state science page mentions groups that promote the Next Generation Science Standards but does not state an adoption. Before you plan, ask your district which science standards and course description apply to your grade. Home educators face a different question. Delaware's single-family and multi-family homeschool options name no subject list and no testing, so science is a family choice. The district-coordinated option requires the same subjects as public schools, so families using it should ask what science the superintendent expects. In both settings, the practical gap is the same: physics units that are ready on a Monday morning, with readings, practice and answer keys already written.

Why it fits

How the six units cover the physics half

Each unit stands on its own. Together they run from describing motion to how light bends.

  • Describing Motion & Interpreting Graphs starts with motion and graph reading, skills later units rely on.
  • Forces & Interactions covers Newton's laws so students can explain why objects speed up or stop.
  • Work, Energy & Power links forces to energy, a step many students find abstract.
  • Pressure, Buoyancy & Fluids explains floating and sinking, a good unit for simple demonstrations.
  • Electric Circuits gives a full unit on circuits; batteries, wires and bulbs come from your school.
  • Light, Refraction & Lenses closes the strand with how light bends and lenses form images.

Getting started

One semester of physics, suggested order

This is one way to teach the six units in a semester. Change the order if your district course puts energy first.

  1. Confirm the science standardsAsk your district which science standards and course description apply to your grade. Mark the units that match and decide which ones become extension work. Do this before printing anything.
  2. Start with motion and graphsTeach Describing Motion & Interpreting Graphs first. Graph reading pays off in every later unit, and it gives you an early look at which students need extra math support.
  3. Move to forces, then energyFollow with Forces & Interactions and Work, Energy & Power. Together they make a solid mid-semester block that connects pushes and pulls to energy and shows students why the earlier graphs mattered.
  4. Add fluids and circuitsTeach Pressure, Buoyancy & Fluids, then Electric Circuits. Collect water tubs, small objects, batteries and bulbs early from your school's stock, since the bundle includes no equipment.
  5. Close with lightFinish with Light, Refraction & Lenses. It works well in the weeks before a break and gives you a clear review point before any end-of-semester test.

What to buy

Which physics purchase fits

For the physics part of a middle school physical science course, the Middle School Physical Science Units Bundle at $89.99 is the right size; the six units cost $149.94 separately. If you teach physics across Grades 5–12, the Physics Complete Curriculum Bundle has 15 units for $129.99. Teachers who only need measurement, motion and forces can start smaller with the Physics Foundations Bundle ($59.99). For a fully structured Grades 6–8 physics curriculum with 20+ resources on inquiry, motion, forces and energy, Physics Complete – Middle School starts at $149.90.

Honest limits

What the bundle leaves out

This bundle covers physics only. If your physical science course also includes chemistry, none is here. It is not written for Delaware, carries no Delaware standards codes and is not aligned to NGSS or any state standards, so check each unit against your district's course yourself. No lab equipment, kits or supplies are included. For use across a science department, message Teach Lessons before buying. If the units are not a fit, you can exchange them within 7 days for store credit of equal value; cash refunds are not offered.

Good to know

Frequently asked questions

Is it aligned with Delaware's science standards?

No. It is not aligned to, approved by or endorsed by the Delaware Department of Education, NGSS or any district. We could not confirm the current name of Delaware's science standards, so ask your district which standards and course description apply, then compare each unit before you use it as core material.

Does it include chemistry for physical science?

No. All six units are physics. If your physical science course also covers matter, atoms and the periodic table, you will need chemistry material as well, for example Chemistry Complete – Middle School, which starts at $149.90 and covers matter, atoms, elements and the periodic table.

Do I need a lab?

No lab equipment is included, and you supply anything students handle. Units such as buoyancy and circuits are easier to teach with simple materials from your school's stock. The worksheets, slides and answer keys themselves work in a regular classroom, so a room without lab benches is not a barrier to teaching the units.

Can Delaware homeschool families use it?

Yes. Delaware's single-family and multi-family options, as described in the sources we checked, set no subject list or testing requirement, so science materials are the family's choice. The district-coordinated option follows public school subjects. Check current law with the state or a homeschool legal resource.

Will it work for ninth graders?

The bundle is listed for Grades 6–9, so ninth graders in a physical science course can use it. Students moving on to a full physics course may need more depth, and the Physics Complete Curriculum Bundle for Grades 5–12 goes further with 15 units. Check your district's ninth grade science course before you decide.

How is it delivered?

As a digital download. The link arrives by email right after purchase, and the files stay in your customer account under Orders. Print unit by unit or project the slides in class. Nothing ships, so you can plan the first unit the same day and print only what the first week needs.
