Homeschooling 3rd Grade in New Hampshire: Reading, Writing and Math
Homeschooling 3rd Grade in New Hampshire: Reading, Writing and Math
For a New Hampshire family teaching third grade at home, the 3rd Grade Practice Bundle covers the daily core in one purchase: grammar, creative writing, phonics, a reading story and vocabulary, plus two math practice packs, warm-ups, the Numbers to 1000 unit and a parent guide. It gives you literacy and math practice. Science, history and the rest of your year you plan yourself.
See the Grade 3 bundleThe 3rd Grade Practice Bundle ($59.99) gives New Hampshire homeschool families ten Grade 3 resources: grammar, creative writing, phonics, a reading comprehension story, a vocabulary trainer, two math practice packs, Grade 3 math warm-ups, the Math Made Easy parent guide with workbook, and the Numbers to 1000 unit. It is practice for reading, writing and math, not a full Grade 3 curriculum, and it is not tied to any New Hampshire requirement.

The real problem
What changed for New Hampshire homeschoolers this year
New Hampshire's home education law changed on July 1, 2026. RSA 193-A was amended by 2026 Laws chapter 297, and the former section on portfolios and annual evaluations, RSA 193-A:6, was repealed as of that date. The declaration of home education is now optional. It is required only if you want to use public school programs under RSA 193:1-c or when you withdraw a child from a public school. The amended chapter also states that a lack of notice, records, evaluations or assessments cannot by itself be treated as a failure to provide education. The old subject list no longer appears in the amended text, and what is now required by subject is something to confirm with the state or a homeschool legal resource, not to assume. Fewer forms do not make third grade easier to teach. This is the year multiplication, place value to 1000 and longer written answers all arrive together. Parents often find they have a reading program but no structured grammar or writing practice, or plenty of math worksheets that never build toward anything. The practical need is steady, short daily practice with answers you can check quickly at the kitchen table.
Why it fits
How the bundle fits a home school day
The resources are short practice packs, so you can rotate them through a morning block.
- Grade 3 Grammar Mastery covers nouns, pronouns, sentences and punctuation in short, focused practice.
- Grade 3 Creative Writing offers structured prompts and story starters for a child who freezes at a blank page.
- Grade 3 Phonics & Word Patterns supports a child still building sound awareness in longer words.
- Grade 3 Reading Comprehension pairs a story, Mia and the Moonlight Garden, with questions.
- Numbers to 1000 teaches place value, comparing and ordering, number lines and word problems.
- Math Made Easy is a parent guide with workbook, written for adults teaching math at home.
Getting started
A sample weekly rhythm
Families set their own schedule. Here is one pattern that keeps each skill in steady use.
- Every morning: math warm-upStart with one page from the Grade 3 Math Warm-Up Worksheets. It takes a few minutes and tells you whether yesterday's math stuck before you move on.
- Mon and Wed: grammar and phonicsAlternate Grade 3 Grammar Mastery with Phonics & Word Patterns. Short sessions work better than long ones at this age, so stop while your child is still focused.
- Tue and Thu: writingUse one prompt or story starter from Grade 3 Creative Writing. Ask for a first draft one day and a fixed-up version the next, then read it aloud together.
- Math blocks: Numbers to 1000Work through the Numbers to 1000 unit over several weeks, then move to the Independent Math Practice and Digital Math Lab packs to keep skills fresh.
- Friday: reading and vocabularyRead part of the Grade 3 story and answer its questions, then review words from the vocabulary trainer. Keep a simple folder of finished pages if you want a record.
What to buy
Picking the right Grade 3 purchase
Buy the 3rd Grade Practice Bundle for $59.99 if you want literacy and math in one download; bought separately its parts cost $95.90. If you only need language arts, the Grade 3 ELA Pack ($13.99, parts $19.95) has the five literacy resources without the math. For a stronger math strand, the Elementary Math Units Bundle ($69.99, parts $99.96) adds full units on fractions with visual models and area and perimeter for Grades 3–5. If your child will sit a standardized test, the Grades 3–5 Test Prep Bundle ($64.99, parts $104.95) covers ELA and math review.
Honest limits
Be clear on what this does not cover
The bundle is not written for New Hampshire and contains no New Hampshire content or state standards codes. It is practice packs plus one math unit, not a full-year Grade 3 curriculum. It has no science, history, health, art or music. Check current homeschool requirements with the state or a homeschool legal resource. You supply printing, pencils and any reading books beyond the stories included. A co-op or tutoring group needs a short message to Teach Lessons first. If it is not a fit, you can exchange it within 7 days for store credit of equal value.
Good to know
Frequently asked questions
Is this enough for New Hampshire homeschool rules in third grade?
No product can promise that, and this one is not approved or endorsed by the state. New Hampshire's home education law, RSA 193-A, was amended effective July 1, 2026, and the current subject requirement should be confirmed with the state or a homeschool legal resource. This bundle covers reading, writing and math practice only.
Do I still need to keep a portfolio?
The former portfolio and annual evaluation section, RSA 193-A:6, was repealed as of July 1, 2026. Some families keep finished pages anyway for their own records or for an optional certificate of completion. This is not legal advice, so check your situation with a homeschool legal resource.
My child reads well but struggles with math. Is this still right?
Possibly. The bundle has two math practice packs, warm-ups and the Numbers to 1000 unit. If math needs more weight than literacy, look at the Elementary Math Units Bundle, which adds fractions and area and perimeter units. You could pair it with the Grade 3 ELA Pack instead.
I have never taught math. Will I manage?
The Math Made Easy parent guide is written for adults supporting math at home, and it comes with its own workbook. The units and practice packs include answer keys, so you can check your child's work without solving every problem yourself first. Start with the guide before the first math week.
Do we need a computer?
No. The resources are worksheets, activities, slides and answer keys that print well at home. One pack is called Digital Math Lab, but no software, apps or accounts are included or needed. If you have a tablet or laptop, you can show the slides on it, and a printer covers the rest.
How fast do I get the files?
Right away. A download link arrives by email after purchase, and the files stay in your customer account under Orders, so you can download them again if a computer changes. Many families print one week at a time instead of the whole bundle at once, which saves paper and ink.
