Why teachers use these
Why teachers in small schools use these
In a small school you are often the only person who teaches your subject, which means no shared drive of past units and no one to ask what worked last year. You may also be covering the grade above and the grade below, coaching after school, and writing sub plans for the days you are on a bus route. Complete units solve the immediate problem: the differentiated worksheets, slides and keys already exist, and one file stretches across the grades actually sitting in front of you.

Make it work for everyone
Differentiation across combined grades
A combined class works when everyone shares the lesson and splits at the practice. Teach the concept once, then give the younger group the lower tier and the older group the upper one so the discussion still includes the whole room. The finished work gives you separate evidence for each grade without planning two separate lessons.
Good to know
Frequently asked questions
I teach three grades in one room. Does one purchase cover that?
For a class you teach yourself, yes. The license covers your own classroom and the four levels are designed to be handed out at the same time to different students. Where it stops is another teacher in another room, who needs their own copy, which is worth knowing before you email a file along.
Can I leave these for a substitute?
That is one of the most common uses. Because every unit includes a full answer key and a lesson plan with timings, a sub who does not know the subject can still run the period. Print the middle tier for the whole class, leave the plan on the desk and the day holds together.
We have almost no lab or art budget. Does that matter?
The materials are print and screen based, so the recurring cost is paper and toner rather than consumables. That does not replace hands-on science, but the reading, the data work and the writing around an investigation are ready even in the week the supply order still has not arrived.
I teach a subject outside my certification area. Will I be lost?
The lesson plans are written for a teacher who is one chapter ahead, with timings, sequencing and complete answer keys rather than a bare worksheet. Read the plan and the deck once the night before, and you have both the content and the explanation ready for the questions students actually ask.
