K–8 Teaching Bundles: How to Choose by Grade and Subject

Short answerTeach Lessons has eight bundles for Pre-K to Grade 8, each with four units: reading for K–1, reading intervention for Grades 2–5, writing, elementary math, early science and community, US history and civics, middle school science, and middle school life skills. Choose by grade first, then by the gap you want to close in your plan this term. Each bundle costs less than its four units bought separately; the saving ranges from $15.97 to $34.97. Only the first five are listed as cards below. The other three are described in the text.

It is the week before term. You have a gap in your plan: the Grade 4 writing block is thin, or a Grade 8 history unit is missing, or three students need decoding practice. You could buy units one by one. A bundle makes sense when you need most of the four units in it, because the price is set below the total of the separate units.

If you teach one subject across several grades, our Grades 5–9 math bundle page shows one way to build a longer sequence.

Early grades

Reading and handwriting for K–1

The Learn to Read K–1 Bundle pairs oral and written work. It holds Phonemic Awareness Daily Routines for Kindergarten, Decodable Readers Grade One, Heart Words and Manuscript Handwriting. The decodable stories carry word work and comprehension questions, and the handwriting unit practices basic strokes and A–Z letters. A Kindergarten or Grade 1 teacher gets one oral routine, one set of stories, one word-mapping set and one handwriting set, which is a full early-reading block. Buying the four units separately costs $62.96. The bundle is $39.99. If you teach only one of these skills, buy that unit alone. The bundle pays off when you plan to use at least three. The Science & Community Bundle sits beside it for the same age group, with Light and Sound, Pushes and Pulls, Classroom Routines and My Community.

Grades 2–5

Intervention, writing and elementary math

The Reading Intervention Bundle suits a teacher with mixed readers in Grades 2–5. It includes Nonfiction Text Features, Multisyllabic Word Decoding and Morphology, the Dyslexia-Friendly Reading Support Pack and Reading Fluency Passages. The units do not diagnose or treat dyslexia. The Writing Bundle covers cursive, narrative writing, opinion writing and text evidence across Grades 2–5, so it works for a school that wants one writing sequence over several years. Cursive is written for Grades 2–3, narrative writing for Grade 3, opinion writing for Grades 4–5 and text evidence for Grade 5. A Grade 4 teacher would use two of the four in one year, and the rest wait for the next class. The Elementary Math Bundle holds number sense, measurement and money, multiplication fact fluency and multi-digit multiplication and division. Its saving is the smallest of the eight because all four of its units cost under $15, but the four topics follow each other in a sensible order.

Grades 6–8

History, science and life skills

The US History & Civics Bundle gathers four Grade 7–8 units: Civil War and Reconstruction, Westward Expansion, Bill of Rights and Landmark Cases, and Holocaust Education. The Holocaust unit and the Civil War unit deal with serious material, and the teacher guides are where to look before you plan for your class. The Middle School Science Bundle holds Earth and Space, Plate Tectonics and the Rock Cycle, Genetics and Heredity and Engineering Design Challenges. The Middle School Life Skills Bundle collects Spotting Misinformation and Deepfakes, Executive Function and Study Skills, Sleep, Nutrition and Wellness, and Conflict Resolution and Restorative Circles. The wellness and conflict units are classroom lessons, not medical advice or counseling. Misinformation and study skills fit advisory, ELA or technology periods as well as a single subject class. Each middle school unit closes with a project, and each has its own teacher guide.

Choosing

Bundle or single unit

Start with the grade, then ask how many of the four units you would use this year. If the answer is three or four, the bundle is the better price. If it is one, buy the unit. Every bundle is made of units that each have their own teacher guide, so nothing in a bundle depends on the others. You can teach them in any order. A school with several teachers can split a bundle, with one person taking two units and a colleague taking the other two. If you already own one unit from a bundle, compare the bundle price with the remaining three before you decide. Savings are calculated on all four, so the gap narrows once you own part of a set. Teachers on a shared grade team can buy one bundle and split the planning. For a longer history sequence, this guide to a complete history bundle shows how one teacher plans a full course.

Questions teachers ask

Frequently asked questions

How many bundles are there?

Eight, each with four units: reading K–1, reading intervention, writing, elementary math, science and community, US history and civics, middle school science, and middle school life skills.

How much do I save?

The saving is between $15.97 and $34.97 depending on the bundle, compared with buying the four units separately.

Can I buy a unit from a bundle on its own?

Yes. Every unit is sold separately and has its own product page. If you already own two units from a set, the separate price may be the better choice.

Are answers included?

Units include teacher guides. Check each product page for what the guide holds, such as answers, keys or teaching notes. The guides differ between older and newer units, so read the product page before you buy.

Do the bundles claim to match a curriculum?

No. Product pages name the closest frameworks, but no alignment or endorsement is claimed.

Do the reading bundles diagnose dyslexia?

No. The Reading Intervention Bundle includes a support pack with accessible pages, but it does not diagnose or treat dyslexia.
