Why teachers use these
Why Pennsylvania teachers use these
Pennsylvania teaching means working inside one of hundreds of district pacing guides, and the shift to the STEELS standards has meant rewriting science units that worked perfectly well for a decade. These downloads hand you the phenomenon, the reading, four levels of practice and the answer key in a single file, so a unit that used to eat a weekend now takes an evening. They also make a solid, self-explanatory plan to leave a guest teacher on an in-service day.
What's covered
What each download includes
Every unit is built to be taught straight from the file instead of assembled first.
- Phenomenon-led science investigations
- Data tables with analysis questions
- Reading passages needing text evidence
- Four levels of scaffolded practice
- Answer keys and scoring guides
- Editable slides for the board
Make it work for everyone
Differentiation and evidence for data meetings
Each worksheet ships on four levels, so a student with an IEP and an enrichment group can work from the same lesson without two sets of planning. Keep one mid-level task per unit as a common assessment and score it with the included key. You then have comparable evidence to bring to a grade-level data meeting or an MTSS conversation.
Good to know
Frequently asked questions
Do these match the PA Core and STEELS standards?
They are not published, endorsed or approved by the Pennsylvania Department of Education. Units are written to the concepts and practices those standards describe, so they map onto your district's scope and sequence. Open a preview, compare it with the standards you teach that month, and edit the file where a closer fit helps.
Will they help with PSSA and Keystone preparation?
Indirectly, and that is deliberate. There are no imitation test forms in the catalog. What students get instead is repeated practice at the underlying work those assessments sample: citing evidence, interpreting a data set, explaining a model, and writing a constructed response that answers the whole question rather than half of it.
Can I share a download with my grade-level team?
A purchase licenses one teacher's own classroom, and you can reuse it every year with new students. Colleagues need their own copy, which also means they get editable files rather than a flattened printout. Posting the files to a public site or a drive outside your own classroom is not permitted.
