What changes at the border, and what does not
Canada has no national curriculum, and the differences are real ones. Saskatchewan writes its curriculum as outcomes and indicators, with teachers free to add indicators of their own. Quebec runs the Quebec Education Program around competencies and still holds mandatory ministerial examinations that count for half the course mark at Secondary IV and V. Yukon adopted British Columbia's redesigned curriculum outright instead of authoring one, and the Northwest Territories is converting from Alberta's programs of study to BC's model, replacing subject diploma exams with literacy and numeracy assessments. What does not change is the physics. A class meeting motion for the first time needs the same distinction between speed and velocity in St. John's as in Whitehorse, and the teaching problem is recognizable everywhere: mixed reading levels in one room, a period to fill properly, marks that have to stand up when a parent asks. These units are written to the concepts and left editable, so the labels and the order can be matched to whichever framework your ministry publishes.

Whatever the framework calls them, the lessons run the same way: the everyday version of the idea first, the physics drawn on top of it, then marks collected from writing.
- Open with the everyday versionThe unit begins with something students have already seen — a bike gear, a kettle, a puddle reflecting a streetlight — and asks them to describe it before technical language arrives.
- Draw the physics on top of itThe deck supplies the diagram and the vocabulary that turn the everyday description into a physical model, working one example fully rather than listing definitions to copy.
- Work the numbersTiered calculation sheets follow. The tier changes the amount of structure on the page, never the physics being asked about, so the class stays on one topic in four versions.
- Argue about a borderline caseOne task is deliberately arguable — a case where two reasonable answers compete. Discussion here exposes the misconception you would otherwise meet for the first time while marking.

Two problems every jurisdiction shares
Report cards look different across the country — percentage marks in some jurisdictions, outcome or competency statements in others — but every system eventually asks the same question: what evidence do you have for this student. Tiered written tasks are the practical answer, because they produce work from everyone rather than from the confident half of the class. Kept in order through a term, those tasks show a line of development you can point at in a conference. That holds whether the comment you write sits against an outcome, a competency or a number.

Frequently asked questions
Are these resources connected to any ministry of education?
No. We are not affiliated with or endorsed by any provincial or territorial ministry of education. These are independent teaching resources, written to the concepts and skills that curriculum documents describe for a subject and grade range. Each jurisdiction page tells you which framework it was written against, and every product carries a preview so you can check the match against your own planning.
How do these fit provincial exams and graduation requirements?
They are teaching units, not exam preparation, and we make no claim about results. Requirements differ sharply: Quebec's mandatory ministerial examinations count for half the course grade at Secondary IV and V, Saskatchewan grants its graduation certificate on a 24-credit count with no province-wide exam, and the Northwest Territories now uses literacy and numeracy assessments in place of subject diploma exams. The units supply written practice and marked tasks.
When does a bundle make more sense than single units?
When you are covering a course rather than a topic. Single units at $24.99 suit a teacher filling one gap in an existing plan, or trying the format before committing further. The middle school physics curriculum at $149.90 is aimed at whoever has a full year to plan, and one bundle is simpler to put through purchasing than several small orders.
My ministry uses different terminology. How do I map these to it?
Start from the topic rather than the label. A unit on refraction covers refraction whether your documents call it an outcome, a competency or a curricular content statement, so match on subject matter first and rename afterwards. The files are editable for that reason: teachers paste their own outcome codes onto the first slide and retitle lessons in their reporting language.
How adaptable are the worksheets for students who need support?
The layout is plain by design — clear headings, one idea per box, room to write — and four tiers of each sheet let the reading load drop while the physics stays put. Because the files are editable, you can enlarge the text, change the typeface, increase line spacing or cut a section before printing. Some teachers project the deck rather than print at all.
My territory teaches another jurisdiction's curriculum. Which page should I use?
Use your own territory's page first: it names the framework actually in force there, including the cases where it was adopted from elsewhere. Yukon teaches British Columbia's redesigned curriculum, and the Northwest Territories is moving to the same model as its renewal proceeds. The British Columbia page is useful for subject sequence, but your territory's page reflects graduation and reporting.
