A second sales channel for your resources

For teacher-authors

If your resources sell in one place today, adding a second channel can widen who finds them without closing anything you already have. TeachLessons is non-exclusive, so it can sit next to your own shop or any marketplace you use.

Why one channel can be a weak spot

Many teacher-authors sell everything through a single store. That is easy to manage, and for a while it may work well. The catch is that all of your income then depends on one set of rules, one search system and one group of buyers. If any of those shifts, your sales shift with it, and there is little you can do about it in the short term.

A second channel doesn't remove that risk, but it spreads it. Teachers who would never have come across your resource in one place may find it in another. And if one store has a slow month, the other is still running. Our article on why teacher-authors add a second sales channel goes into this in more depth.

If you already know you want to try it, the submission form is the place to begin.

Why non-exclusive matters

A second channel only works if it doesn't lock you in. We take a non-exclusive license, which means listing a resource with TeachLessons doesn't restrict where else you sell it. You keep your copyright, you keep your other listings, and you can remove a resource from TeachLessons at any time.

The two channels run side by side. A teacher who finds your resource in your own shop buys it there. A teacher who finds it on TeachLessons buys it from us, and we pay you 70% of net revenue. Neither sale affects the other.

The one limit is an agreement you have already signed. If you agreed to sell certain resources only on one platform or only through one publisher, those resources can't be listed with us. Please honor that agreement. Our article on what to check in an exclusivity clause can help you work out what it covers.

What a sale through TeachLessons pays

The math is the same at every price. We take out a 3% payment cost, then split the rest 70/30. On a $10 resource the payment cost is 30 cents, net revenue is $9.70, and you keep $6.79. There are no membership, listing or per-resource fees on top. The payout calculator has the full table and worked examples.

Price You keep
$3.00 $2.04
$5.00 $3.40
$10.00 $6.79
$20.00 $13.58
$50.00 $33.95

What a second channel does and doesn't do

A good payout per sale only helps if sales happen. We can't promise how many sales any resource will make with us, and we won't pretend otherwise. What we can do is write a careful listing for each accepted resource, link it from relevant Teacher Hub articles and landing pages, and give you an author profile. Our free SEO page explains what that includes.

There is also no cost to trying. If a resource doesn't sell with us, you haven't paid anything for the listing, and you can take it down whenever you like.

Practical steps

Here is how to go from one store to two without breaking anything you already have.

  1. Check your agreements. Look at the terms of every place you sell now. Make sure none of them limits where your resources can be sold, and note any resources that are tied up.
  2. Check third-party licenses. Look at the clip art, fonts and images in each resource. Some licenses limit which marketplaces a product can be sold on. Our checklist for adding resources to another platform covers this.
  3. Pick a starting set. You don't have to submit your whole catalog. A sensible start is a handful of resources you know well and are proud of.
  4. Submit through the form. Send the resources and your author details on the submission form. Our team reviews them and replies by email.
  5. Agree prices and approve copy. You suggest a price and we set it together. We rewrite titles, descriptions and FAQs for search, and you approve the copy before it goes live.
  6. Keep records per channel. Your income from each store arrives separately, and our monthly statement lists every sale. Keeping the channels apart makes tax time easier. See our article on record-keeping across platforms.

Pricing across two stores

Keeping the same price in both places is the simplest option to explain and to track. Your payout with us is 67.9% of the price, so you can work out your share before you agree a price. If you sell lots of small items, our article on when bundles beat single resources is worth a read. For more on how we work, see the program overview, the key terms and the seller FAQ.

Quick answers

Frequently asked questions

Do I have to close my other store to list with TeachLessons?

No. Our license is non-exclusive, so you can sell the same resources in your own shop, on other marketplaces and with us.

How much do I keep on a $10 sale through TeachLessons?

$6.79. The 3% payment cost is 30 cents, net revenue is $9.70, and 70% of that is $6.79.

Will a second channel bring me more sales?

We can't promise any sales volume. We do careful SEO work on each accepted listing and feature seller resources on our site, but results vary.

What if some of my resources are under an exclusivity agreement?

Please honor it. Those resources can't be listed with us, but resources outside the agreement can be submitted.

Does it cost anything to try?

No. There are no membership, listing or per-resource fees. The only deduction is the 3% payment cost on each sale.
