Sell teaching resources from Singapore
Teachers, tutors and curriculum writers in Singapore can sell their English-language resources on TeachLessons, keep 70% of net revenue and receive payouts in US dollars via PayPal.
Short answer: Yes, teachers and tutors in Singapore can sell teaching resources on TeachLessons if they can receive PayPal payments in US dollars. You apply with a short form, send final files by email and keep 70% of net revenue. If you work in a school, check your contract and your employer's rules on outside work first.
Why sell from Singapore on an English-language store?
Singapore is one of the main buyer markets on TeachLessons, alongside the US, the UK, Canada, Australia and international schools. That gives Singapore-made resources two audiences: local parents, tutors and teachers who know the syllabus well, and buyers overseas who have heard of Singapore maths and want practice that is clear, well sequenced and demanding.
Those two groups want slightly different things. Local buyers search by level and topic ("P5 fractions", "Sec 2 algebra"). Overseas buyers search by skill and grade ("bar model word problems Grade 4"). A good listing serves both: the skill in the title, the local level and an international equivalent in the description.
How do I describe MOE syllabus links accurately?
Name the syllabus factually and only as far as you can back it up. "Written for Primary 4 maths topics on fractions" is accurate. "MOE approved" or anything that suggests the Ministry of Education or SEAB has checked or endorsed your work is not, unless that is true and you can prove it.
- Primary: use P1 to P6 and, where useful, Standard or Foundation for subjects where that applies at upper primary.
- Secondary: Sec 1 to Sec 4/5. Full Subject-Based Banding is replacing the old streams, and the Singapore-Cambridge Secondary Education Certificate (SEC) replaces the separate O-Level and N-Level certificates from 2027. Check current wording before you label a resource, and avoid old stream names in new titles.
- Subject levels: G1, G2 and G3 are now common labels for subject levels. If you aren't sure how a topic maps, describe the content instead of guessing a level.
For overseas buyers, add an approximate equivalent: "Primary 5 (age 10-11, roughly Grade 5)". It's a small courtesy that stops a teacher in Texas or Toronto from scrolling past.
Can I sell PSLE or O-Level style practice papers?
You can sell original practice written in the style of national exams. You cannot sell copies of past papers, school prelim papers or questions lifted from assessment books. Prelim papers in particular circulate widely among parents and tutors, but they belong to the schools that set them. Rewording a question slightly doesn't make it yours.
What sells well, and is safe to sell, looks like this:
- Topical worksheets with your own questions, graded from routine to challenging, with worked solutions.
- Heuristics practice sets (model drawing, working backwards, guess and check) with a short explanation of when each one helps.
- Composition and situational writing planners, vocabulary banks and model paragraphs you wrote yourself.
- Oral practice prompts and comprehension passages you wrote, with question types students will recognise.
- Revision checklists by topic that a parent can tick off with a child.
TeachLessons does not check resources for third-party rights. If a claim arises because of your resource, you are responsible for it, and we may take a resource offline straight away if we receive a complaint.
I teach in a school. Can I sell my own materials?
This is the question to settle before anything else. Teachers employed in schools, including MOE teachers, may have rules on outside work, declarations and who owns materials made for the job. We can't tell you what your contract says. Check your contract and your employer's guidelines, and ask your school leaders or HR if anything is unclear.
Private tutors and tuition centre staff face a similar question about materials made for a centre. If the centre paid for the worksheets or uses them as its own, they may not be yours to sell. Resources you write independently, on your own time, are the safest starting point.
Whatever your situation, remove school or centre logos and any student names, photos or real work samples. Resources must contain no personal data of real students.
What file format works for buyers in Singapore and abroad?
Singapore uses A4. US buyers use US Letter. Including both PDFs in one ZIP is the cleanest answer, and saying "A4 and US Letter included" in the description answers a question before it is asked.
British spelling (colour, practise, recognise) suits Singapore, UK and Australian buyers and is fine for many international schools. Units should be metric. For money in word problems, dollars work for both Singapore and US buyers, which makes maths resources from Singapore easier to sell abroad than most.
Answer keys belong in the same file or ZIP. Parents buying for home practice look for them first, and a missing answer key is a common reason for a refund request. Our guide to test prep and exam revision resources has more on how to structure practice sets.
How am I paid as a seller in Singapore?
You set prices in US dollars and keep 70% of net revenue. Net revenue is what the customer paid, after discounts and without sales tax, minus a 3% payment processing cost. That works out at 67.9% of the price: a $5.00 practice pack pays $3.40 per sale, a $20.00 resource pays $13.58.
Payouts are made monthly, by the 15th, for the previous month's sales, via PayPal in US dollars, with a statement that lists every sale. Any conversion to Singapore dollars happens in your PayPal account under PayPal's terms.
You are responsible for taxes on your own income. If the law requires TeachLessons to withhold tax from a payout, for example German withholding tax on payments to sellers outside Germany, it is deducted and you receive a confirmation. Ask a tax advisor in Singapore how to report this income.
How do I join from Singapore?
Start with the short application form (about five minutes, no files). We email you the seller documents. You sign the agreement, fill in the Resource Submission List with one row per resource, and send everything in one email to support@stifo.de, including PNG or JPEG previews and thumbnails for each resource.
We confirm receipt within 2 business days, write your product pages and set up your author page. Resources go live once they are set up, with no extra approval round, so send final versions only. For a large set of worksheets, read how to submit many resources at once.
Frequently asked questions
Can tutors in Singapore sell on TeachLessons?
Yes. Sellers don't have to be classroom teachers. You need to have created the resources or hold all rights to them, write them in English and be able to receive PayPal payments in US dollars.
Can I say my worksheets follow the MOE syllabus?
You can describe which syllabus topics a resource covers, as long as it's accurate. Don't claim MOE or SEAB approval or endorsement.
Can I sell school prelim papers I collected?
No. Prelim and past papers belong to the schools or bodies that set them. Write your own exam-style questions and worked solutions instead.
Do MOE teachers need permission to sell resources?
It depends on your contract and your employer's rules on outside work. Check them and ask your school or HR before you start selling.
Are payouts in Singapore dollars?
No. Payouts are made in US dollars via PayPal by the 15th of each month. Conversion into Singapore dollars happens in your PayPal account.
What paper size should I use?
Singapore uses A4 and US buyers use US Letter. Sending both versions in one ZIP is the easiest way to serve both groups.
