Grades 3 to 8 unit bundles: science, social studies, life skills, ELA and math

Five new bundles group twenty closed units into sets of four. Each bundle covers one subject area and costs less than its four units bought one by one. This page shows what each bundle contains, what you save and how to spread the units across a school year.

In short: Each bundle holds four units that belong together: elementary science, US social studies for Grades 4 and 5, elementary life skills, middle school ELA and math for Grades 5 to 8. Every unit has its own teacher guide with answers. Buying a bundle saves $29.97 against the four single prices, or $34.97 for the ELA bundle. Because the units are separate, you can teach them in any order, and the sequence below is one suggestion for a school year.

How the bundles work

Four units per bundle, each one complete

A unit in this range is a closed block of eight to fifteen lessons. Every lesson follows the same pattern of an explanation page, a practice page and a case card, and every unit ends with vocabulary pages, a learning check and a project. That consistency matters when you stack several units in a year, because students learn the format once and then spend their effort on content.

Each bundle combines units from one subject area, so you can plan a whole strand without hunting for the next topic. The units stay independent. You can start the bundle with the unit that suits your calendar, and you do not need to teach all four. The sections below describe what each bundle contains, with the lesson counts taken from the unit descriptions.

Science

Elementary Science Bundle: four units, grades 3 to 5

The Elementary Science Bundle brings together four science units across three grades. Life Cycles and Inherited Traits has eight lessons on life-cycle patterns, butterfly development, flowering plants, inherited similarities, variation, environmental influences, patterns and predictions, and explaining with evidence, and it suits Grade 3.

For Grade 4, Energy and Waves covers energy and observable change, speed comparisons, collisions, energy pathways and wave patterns, and Earth's Changing Surface covers rock layers, weathering, erosion and deposition, maps, resources and natural hazards. Grade 5 gets Matter and Ecosystems, which runs from properties of matter and particle models through mixtures to food webs and decomposers. That is 32 lessons in total.

Social studies

US Social Studies Bundle: grades 4 and 5

The US Social Studies Bundle has four units that fit a US social studies program. US Regions and State Geography uses eight lessons to cover the five regions, map types and responsible comparison, and The American Revolution takes ten lessons, from empire and conflict to turning points and aftermath, with attention to enslaved people, Native nations and women.

The US Constitution and Three Branches has eight lessons on the Preamble, federalism, the three branches, checks and balances and the Bill of Rights, ending in a civic simulation. Native Nations Today presents present-day nations, with the Cherokee Nation, the Makah and the Diné/Navajo Nation as examples. The set is 34 lessons. These units are written around US content, so they suit classrooms that teach it.

Life skills

Elementary Life Skills Bundle: grades 3 to 5

The Elementary Life Skills Bundle covers four topics that rarely get a timetable slot of their own. Executive Function Skills has fifteen lessons on planning, organization and monitoring, from naming the real task to transferring a strategy. Digital Citizenship and AI has eight lessons on privacy, passwords, kindness, what AI generates and checking a claim.

Money Basics has eight lessons on needs and wants, earning, saving, spending, simple budgets and a classroom economy with limits, using fictional budgets. 200 Science Words gives multilingual learners 200 terms on 50 vocabulary card pages, with sentence frames and a page of Spanish connection notes. Together the bundle holds 39 lessons.

English

Middle School ELA Bundle: grades 6 to 8

The Middle School ELA Bundle pairs two novel studies with two skills units. The Call of the Wild has nine lessons, with seven chapter guides, naturalism as a lens and a closing lesson on character, theme and argument. Treasure Island has eight lessons across the six parts of the novel, plus map, setting and inference work and persuasive and narrative writing. Neither novel is reproduced, and each study links to a free primary text.

Argument and Research has eight lessons on claims, credibility, data, counterclaims, citation and revision, with three original text sets. Poetry: Read, Think, Create has six skill lessons and twelve short public-domain poems by Emily Dickinson and Robert Louis Stevenson. The bundle is 31 lessons and costs $74.99 against $109.96 for the four singles.

Math

Math Bundle: grades 5 to 8

The Math Bundle runs from Grade 5 to Grade 8. Decimals and Fractions has twelve lessons and Volume and the Coordinate Plane has eight, which together cover decimals, fractions, volume and graphing. Statistics and Data adds eight lessons on dot plots, histograms, mean and median, spread and box plots for Grade 6, and Geometric Transformations closes with eight lessons on translations, reflections, rotations, dilations, congruence and similarity for Grade 8.

The math bundle spans several grades, so most teachers use two of the four units with their own class and keep the others for the following year or for a colleague. The 36 lessons are separate units, and you can give each grade the unit that belongs to it.

Plan

One way to sequence the units across a school year

The units give no timings, so this plan assumes one lesson per period and roughly two to three lessons a week. Shift it to match your timetable and your own calendar.

Part of the year Grades 3–5 (self-contained class) Grades 6–8 (ELA and math) Why this order
Opening weeks Executive Function Skills, first five lessons Argument and Research, lessons 1 to 3 Routines and a clear writing format help every later unit
First term A science unit, then US Regions or Money Basics Treasure Island or Decimals and Fractions Pair one content unit with one skills unit
Second term A second science or social studies unit The Call of the Wild or Statistics and Data A longer text or data unit fits the middle of the year
Third term Digital Citizenship and AI, then a history or civics unit Poetry: Read, Think, Create, then Geometric Transformations Short units suit the weeks around breaks and assessments
Final weeks Executive Function Skills, last lessons, plus unit projects Argument and Research, revision lessons Revisit the strategies and finish the projects

Questions

Frequently asked questions

Do I have to teach all four units in a bundle?

No. The units are independent, so you can teach one, two or all four, in any order that suits your term plan.

Which bundle fits which grade?

Science and life skills are written for Grades 3 to 5, social studies for Grades 4 and 5, ELA for Grades 6 to 8 and math for Grades 5 to 8. The individual unit pages give the exact grade for each unit.

Are answers included?

Yes. Each unit has a teacher guide with answers and case guidance, and the novel studies add chapter keys or reading notes where the unit description lists them.

Can I use these outside the United States?

Yes. Teachers in the UK and Australia can read the grade as one year higher, so Grade 5 is roughly Year 6. Our UK and Australian pages list the units by year group. The social studies bundle is based on US content.

Is TeachLessons connected to a state or ministry?

No. TeachLessons is independent and is not endorsed by any department, ministry, state or exam board.

What if a unit does not match my standards?

Tell us within 30 days of purchase and the TeachLessons Guarantee applies. You get an adapted, editable version within 10 business days, at no extra cost.
